Molly Edwards

Intellectual Property and Global Trade Specialist


Molly Edwards is an Intellectual Property and Global Trade Specialist in Ater Wynne’s Intellectual Property Group and the Global Trade Group. Molly’s combined role allows her to not only assist clients with securing their intellectual property rights, but also assist clients with navigating the complex regulations of export controls for their goods and services.

As the Intellectual Property Specialist Molly prosecutes domestic and international trademarks, administers clients’ domestic and international trademark portfolios, manages trademark dockets, prepares and files documents before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in Federal Court, and assists with the analysis of trademark infringement, preparing cease and desist letters, and performs initial clearance searches of trademarks. In addition, Molly also prepares intellectual property licenses and contracts.

She also manages our patent docket, administers clients’ domestic and international patent portfolios, assists with the prosecution of U.S., PCT, and international patent applications, and prepares and files documents before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Molly is also experienced in filing copyright applications with the U.S. Copyright Office.

As the Global Trade Specialist in Ater Wynne’s Global Trade Group, Molly assists clients with compliance with U.S. and foreign export controls, and shipping laws and regulations governing commercial and military products, technical data, and services. Her assistance includes the preparation of export licenses, DSP5 applications, Manufacturing License Agreements, and Technology License Agreements. She also assists with the preparation of export controls compliance programs, analysis of export violations, and the export of controlled substances.

In Molly’s combined role, she also works with clients regarding big data, such as data transfers, data breaches, and computer security. Molly assists clients with compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as the U.S. – EU Privacy Shield Principles.
